A Program of cancer Care. Lungcancer.org is a program of CancerCare, a national nonprofit organization that provides free, professional support services to anyone affected by cancer: people with cancer, caregivers, children, loved ones, and the bereaved. CancerCare programs — including counselling, education, financial assistance and practical help — are provided by trained oncology social workers and are completely free of charge. Founded in 1944, CancerCare now provides individual help to more than 97,000 people each year, in addition to the 2.1 million visits to their websites.
In 1998, CancerCare founded lungcancer.org as part of our ongoing programs for people with lung cancer. Lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer death in men and women, and we have developed a wide range of programs to meet the needs of the more than 200,000 people a year who are diagnosed with this disease.
